Nordic Business Breakfast panelists.

BRAWW Law attorney and Honorary Consul of Sweden and Norway, Tom Rosseland, recently joined an expert panel at the Nordic Business Breakfast, an event hosted by the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce. The program brought together more than 30 leaders from across the Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish business communities to discuss the rapidly shifting realities of transatlantic business.

As global companies continue navigating tariff uncertainty, immigration hurdles, and geopolitical volatility, the Nordic region’s approach to resilience and long-term strategy has gained renewed attention. The 65-minute panel conversation explored these themes from multiple angles, including trade, workforce mobility, culture fit, and the future of Nordic-U.S. partnerships.

A Collaborative Look at Tariffs, Talent, and Trust

Although the panel was developed and the questions prepared by Fredrik Stålberg, Co-Founder of Arcleef, an unexpected family health matter prevented him from attending. Ken Huelskamp, also a partner at Arcleef, stepped in as moderator and guided the discussion using Fredrik’s prepared questions for a distinguished group of panelists:

  • Tom Rosseland – Honorary Consul of Sweden & Norway; Attorney, BRAWW Law
  • Kari Lindberg – Honorary Consul of Finland
  • Jan René Knudsen – President, Danish Chamber of Commerce; VP, DSV
  • Roy Abernathy – EVP, Consulting & Strategy Solutions, Newmark (via Zoom)
  • Claudia Arias – Senior Vice President, Multinational Corporate Banking, PNC Bank
  • Bob Johnson – Immigration Attorney, Baker Donelson

Topics included:

  • Tariffs and trade policy volatility, and how Nordic companies can plan amid shifting federal priorities
  • Immigration and talent mobility, including how companies can continue attracting international expertise
  • Cultural fit and organizational alignment, especially for companies entering or scaling in the U.S.
  • Geopolitical risk, and the critical role of trust in transatlantic commercial relationships

Drawing on insights from his recent visit to the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, D.C., Tom shared diplomatic and on-the-ground observations on Nordic investment trends, the evolving U.S. regulatory environment, and the importance of predictable policy for continued economic growth.

Nordic Resilience Meets U.S. Opportunity

One of the clearest themes that emerged from the panel: Nordic companies continue to succeed in the U.S. not by chance, but by consistently emphasizing transparency, long-term planning, sustainability, and trust-based business relationships.

However, even companies with strong operational discipline face challenges, particularly around:

  • Supply-chain unpredictability
  • Shifting tariff frameworks
  • Complex immigration processes
  • The increased need for cultural competence across distributed teams

The panel emphasized that success in today’s environment demands both strategic agility and strong cross-border partnerships, qualities that continue to define the Nordic business presence in Georgia and across the United States.
