Rachel helps companies identify and resolve legal issues and protect themselves with contracts. She has a practical, business-conscious approach to legal services and an ability to find creative solutions to reduce legal risk. Primary focus areas include contracts and counseling related to content creation and monetization (including TV/film, publishing, websites and social media), branding, marketing, sponsorships, promotions, and general commercial matters.
Rachel was in-house counsel to Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. for 16 years. She joined Turner as Program Acquisitions Counsel, drafting and negotiating program content license agreements, and later became Marketing & Promotions Counsel, leading the legal team supporting marketing, promotions, branding, sponsorships, strategy, PR, web, and on-air for the TBS, TNT, TCM, and truTV television networks. Before joining Turner, Rachel was an associate with the Silicon Valley law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she handled transactions related to the development, production and licensing of content and technology.
Rachel is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Stone Scholar, an articles editor of the Columbia/VLA Journal of Law & the Arts and a teaching assistant in the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Clinic. Rachel received her bachelor’s degree in Communications from Goucher College, graduating with General Honors, Honors in Communications and Phi Beta Kappa.
